For the past few days I have been on a physical, spiritual, and emotional journey– I’ve been on a juice feast. At the time of this writing, I’m 7 days in to a 10 day feast. It hasn’t been as hard as I anticipated, but it hasn’t been easy either. I decided to embark on this journey because I felt the need to get centered and balanced. It’s a time to steady myself through meditation and to get still enough to hear the prompting from my spirit. I’m at a pivotal point in my life, a time of transition, and I know that if I’m not careful it’s an opportune time for the enemy to distract me through “busyness” and excessive activity. In addition to my spiritual goals I wanted to challenge myself physically. I’ve made a lot of physical progress over the past 6 months, including losing 25 pounds. But recently I’ve felt stagnant in my diet and my workouts, so I wanted to recharge so I can begin to push my body to new levels. Sometimes before you can move forward you have to be willing to take a step back! I chose a juice feast instead of a juice fast for several reasons. For one, I have a few friends who have done a feast with great success…success that goes beyond physical results. Also, feasting is different than fasting. Feasting is not a time of deprivation. This healing program is an experience of abundance, massive nutritional intake and huge shifts in health. When done the way it’s intended your body is getting all the calories it needs and you should not be hungry. When you’re juicing your fruits and veggies you are able to absorb the nutrients into your system a lot faster. You’re also able to give your digestive system a much needed break. There are so many components to juicing, and I haven’t done them perfectly, but I’ve done my best. It requires consuming a certain amount of juice every day, a certain amount of water, taking supplements, and my least favorite- daily enemas. I definitely struggled with the latter, but I have still been able to gain some benefits. As I approach my final days I’m reflecting over this process and really want to finish strong. I want to get the most from this experience, I don’t want to just white knuckle it. I want to accomplish that which I set out to do. So, here’s to me finishing strong! Until next time… Peace, Love and Fitness! ]]>
